Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. One of the show's first "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank until today. In February of 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was the second of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family sometimes depended on food delivery for free from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who would drink sometimes and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran struggled with her education and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after failing several courses during her freshman years.
